In-glass work runs $1,749 to $2,749, because the price includes a new tempered glass unit. A patio insert is the cheapest way in, and a pre-installed slab is the way to leave your existing door untouched. A door-mounted pet door is the most common. Wall and in-glass installations cost the most, because they involve cutting masonry or fabricating new tempered glass.

Why In-Glass Costs More
A pet door cannot be cut into an existing tempered glass panel. The panel has to be replaced with a new tempered unit built around the pet door, so the price depends on the size of the glass we are replacing. Installation is $1,250, and the glass is priced by the size of the panel.

Pre-Installed Pet Door Slabs
Sometimes the smartest move is not cutting your existing door at all. We supply a brand new door slab with the pet door already fitted and sealed at the factory, then hang it in your existing frame. Your original door stays intact, so you can put it back when you move or sell.
This is the route to take when the existing door is solid wood you do not want cut, a rental you cannot modify permanently, a door with a warranty that cutting would void, or simply old enough that replacing it is overdue.

Slabs come primed and ready for your paint or stain. Installation is $850 for a door under 80" and $950 for a door over 80", and the pet door itself is priced separately. Slabs ship freight, so allow extra lead time.

What Changes the Price
- What you are cutting into. A hollow interior door takes an hour. Brick, stucco and concrete take specialty blades, dust control and a longer tunnel.
- Pet door size. A cat door and an XXL door for a Great Dane need different framing, and larger sizes cost more in both door and labor.
- Wall thickness. Wall installations use an insulated tunnel between the inside and outside frames. Thicker walls need longer tunnels.
- Glass size, for in-glass work. See the table above.
- Electronic doors. Smart and controlled-access doors cost more up front and need power at the opening.
- Who supplies the door. We install doors bought from us and doors you already own.
Wall Installation Add-Ons
Some openings need more than a clean cut. These are priced on top of the wall installation, and we tell you before the work starts.
- Cutting into the footer and framing to match wall depth – $250

Walls thicker than a standard build need a 16" tunnel, which adds 15% to the cost of the pet door.
How Much Is the Pet Door Itself?

Four Ways to Spend Less
- Use a patio insert if you rent or want it reversible. At $159.97 installed it is the cheapest route, needs no cutting, and lifts out when you move.
- Go through a door rather than a wall. The same pet door costs several hundred dollars less to fit into a door than through masonry.
- Pick the smallest door your pet actually fits. Measure shoulder width and the height of the chest, not the dog's full height.
- Do it once. A dual-flap door installed and sealed correctly pays for itself against the energy loss of a cheap flap in a badly cut hole.
