A dog door with panels instead of a flap
PlexiDor replaces the flexible vinyl flap with rigid panels in an aluminum frame, so there is nothing to curl, crack or blow open.

Your dog pushes through
Two panels hinged at the sides part in the middle like saloon doors. The panels are see through, so your dog can see what is on the other side.

The panels swing shut
Springs concealed in the frame return the panels to the closed position, and a weather seal along the edges of each panel helps keep drafts out.

You lock it when you want
Medium and larger doors have a keyed lock, and a steel security cover fastens over the opening when you want it closed off.
Built to outlast the flap door it replaces
K9 Composite panels
The panels are a shatter resistant, see through composite that PlexiDor compares to aircraft windshields, built with a dual thermo pane construction.
Heavy aluminum frame
An aluminum frame with reinforced corners, in a white or bronze baked on finish or anodized silver.
Weather sealed
An industrial weather seal lines each panel, and PlexiDor says the springs hold the panels closed in winds up to 30 mph.
Lock, key and steel cover
Medium, Large, Large Plus and Extra Large doors come with a keyed lock and a steel security cover for when you are away.
Quiet
There is no flap to slap against the frame. The panels swing closed on their springs and come to rest quietly.
10 year warranty
PlexiDor backs its door and wall units with a 10 year residential warranty, subject to its terms. Installation labor is not part of that warranty.
Push through panels, or a door that opens itself
Most PlexiDors are the push through saloon style door. The PlexiDor Electronic is a different machine: a motorized panel that slides up when it reads the key on your dog's collar, then closes behind them.

Rigid panels need a square, true opening
A flap forgives a sloppy cut. Swinging panels do not. If the frame is racked or the tunnel is out of square, the panels rub, the seal gaps and the lock does not line up.
We cut to PlexiDor's own template for each size, which is different for door and wall units, and check the swing, the seal and the lock before we leave.

Which PlexiDor size fits your dog?
PlexiDor sizes its doors by the weight of the dog. Check the opening against your dog's width and shoulder height too, and with more than one dog, size for the largest.

How the electronic door works
RFID collar key
A waterproof key weighing 0.4 oz snaps onto your dog's collar. It needs no battery, and the door opens only for keys programmed to it.
A panel that slides up
The composite panel rises like a small garage door as your dog approaches, then lowers again. You can adjust how long it stays open.
Plug in or hardwire
The door runs from a household outlet or can be hardwired. We plan the power supply as part of the installation.
Door or wall
The door unit fits a standard exterior door. The wall unit includes an aluminum tunnel for walls up to 12" thick.
One size for big dogs
The pet opening is 12 5/8" x 19 5/8", for dogs up to 125 lbs. The interior frame is 17 1/8" wide and 54 5/8" tall, so it needs clear space above.
Keeps wildlife out
Raccoons, strays and other animals without a key cannot open the door, which is the reason most owners choose it.

What is a PlexiDor dog door?
A PlexiDor is a pet door that uses rigid, see through panels in an aluminum frame instead of a flexible flap. The panels swing open like saloon doors when a dog pushes through and springs close them again. PlexiDor has made them in the USA since 1985.

How is a PlexiDor different from a flap door?
A flap is a sheet of flexible vinyl held shut by magnets. A PlexiDor has hard panels hinged at the sides with a weather seal along their edges, a keyed lock and a steel security cover. There is no flexible flap to curl or crack.
What size PlexiDor do I need?
Medium suits dogs up to 40 lbs, Large up to 100 lbs, Large Plus up to 150 lbs and Extra Large up to 220 lbs. Check the opening against your dog's width and shoulder height as well as weight. We confirm sizing during your quote.
Can a PlexiDor go through a wall?
Yes. The Wall Series includes an aluminum tunnel that connects the inside and outside frames through stud, brick, block or cement walls up to 12" thick. Wall installation is $1,197 for vinyl, wood shake or cement board and $1,397 for brick, stucco or concrete. See wall dog door installation.
Can a PlexiDor be installed in a sliding glass door?
Yes. PlexiDor's Sliding Glass Series is a new glass unit with the dog door built in, which replaces the glass in your existing sliding door so the frame, hardware and lock stay. It is made to order, so allow several weeks. See glass dog door installation.
How does the PlexiDor Electronic work?
A sensor in the door reads an RFID key on your dog's collar and a motorized panel slides up to let them through, then closes. The key is waterproof and needs no battery. The door plugs into a household outlet or can be hardwired, and suits dogs up to 125 lbs.
Do I need a professional installer?
A door mount PlexiDor in a wood door can be a DIY job for a confident owner. Wall, glass and electronic installs involve cutting through framing or masonry, building a tunnel, replacing glass or running power, and are best done by a trained installer.
What does the PlexiDor warranty cover?
PlexiDor lists a 10 year residential warranty on its door and wall units and a 5 year residential warranty on the electronic door, subject to its terms. Installation labor is not included in the manufacturer warranty.
